At Neuron Solutions, we work with universities to help students grasp the practical applications of AI, create tangible business value through AI, and develop real-world AI solutions. That’s why we were thrilled to participate in an exciting event hosted by SRH University Heidelberg, where students from the Applied Data Science and Analytics program showcased their skills in applying AI to tackle real-life challenges.
The students working in project teams addressed versatile real-life challenges including personalized jobs search, water quality monitoring in the age of climate change and intelligent traffic light control, among other things.
The idea of this initiative came from Prof. Dr. Swati Chandna, the Study Programme Director of Masters in Applied Data Science and Analytics at SRH University Heidelberg together with her team Prof. Dr. Binh Vu, Sina Mehraeen and Dr. Kamellia Reshadi. This innovative idea brought together a diverse group of stakeholders, including Neuron Solutions and other external companies, for working closely with these data science students to broaden and deepen their skills.
Our role at Neuron Solutions in the event was threefold:
- Meaningful AI Project Planning: We kicked off the event with an introductory presentation on how to plan AI projects. We shared insights and strategies to help the student teams embark on their AI journey effectively.
- Instant Feedback: After the student teams presented their ideas, we provided instant feedback to help them refine their pitches. It was inspiring to see their enthusiasm and professionalism and dedication to solving the problems brought up by their stakeholders.
- Guidance for Improvement: Following the pitches, we offered general comments and ideas for further improvement in the students’ work. We discussed ways they could enhance their projects and plan for their future endeavors in the AI field.
Our participation in this initiative with the SRH University was a good example of how industry and academia can collaborate. We were truly impressed by the dedication and talent of the students and the commitment of Prof. Dr. Swati Chandna to make this initiative work.
In addition to hopefully passing on valuable knowledge and experience to the students, it was also an exciting experience for us. We look forward to continuing the joint initiative in the coming months.
